Fencing in the Style of Joachim Meyer

When?: Thursdays from 20:00 to 21:30 (except on public holidays and during school holidays)
Where?: Schlosswallhalle Osnabrück, Schlosswall 10, 49080 Osnabrück
Who?: Your trainers are Daniel Suarez-Mosquera, Lion Wiendieck, Thomas Goldschmidt

Every Thursday, we delve into the fencing system of Joachim Meyer, with our current focus on the Longsword, a mostly two-handed cutting and thrusting weapon from the 13th to 17th centuries. However, in the future, other weapons will also be considered and become part of the training. (Dussack, Rondel Dagger, Meyer Rapier, Halberd, Half Staff/Quarterstaff).

The aim of the training is to learn the safe and competent handling of the various weapons and to gain an understanding of Meyer’s fencing system and the principles and techniques contained within it. The training itself is modular and consists of technical exercises, playful and tactical drills, imparting theoretical principles, as well as exercises focusing on endurance, reflex, and timing.

Only sports clothing and a good mood are required to bring along.

Spanish Rapier and Montante

When?: Wednesday from 20:00 to 21:30 (except on public holidays and during school holidays)
Where?: Diesterwegschule, Windthorststraße 37, 49084 Osnabrück
Who?: Your trainers are Thomas Goldschmidt, Andreas Haller, Michael Medzech, and Malte Melms

Every Wednesday, we focus on the Rapier, a long, elegant thrusting weapon that dominated the fencing salons, courtyards, and dark alleys of the 17th century. Anyone who has seen The Three Musketeers knows this sword. In training, our goal is to train our bodies and minds, become competent fencers, explore the sources, and above all, have fun and go home with a good feeling. The personal development of each trainee is very important to us. The training is based on a modular training system developed by our trainers Thomas and Malte. This includes technical exercises, tactical drills, playful sequences, and more. For starters, the club provides the necessary equipment. All you need to bring is sports clothing and a desire to fence.
